Medical Social Worker Therapy & Consulting, PLLC exists because behavioral health care shouldn't require a client to be the one holding it all together.
Our team was built around a single idea: comprehensive care means a therapist, a substance use specialist, a psychiatric provider, and a case coordinator all working from the same plan, so the people we serve never have to explain their story from scratch to a new provider or piece their own care together.
Dr. Kenshara Cravens-Knoxson is a social worker, educator, and author with experience in healthcare, mental health, substance use services, and higher education. She works with children, youth, and adults, providing counseling and support for emotional challenges, stress, relationships, and life transitions. Her professional background includes crisis intervention, care coordination, university teaching, and supervision of future social workers. Through Medical Social Worker Therapy & Consulting, PLLC, she uses a compassionate, strengths-based approach to help clients develop coping skills, build confidence, and work toward meaningful personal goals.
Today, she has been an Adjunct Professor at Multiple Universities and Clinical Reimbursement Director for NASW Texas, while leading Medical Social Worker Therapy & Consulting. Her book, The Medical Social Worker Playbook: 25 Keys to Competence, Compassion, and Clinical Impact, shares insights on blending clinical skills with compassion. This approach has also led to a National Science Foundation Fellowship and recognition in Galveston Daily News' 40 Under 40, reflected in her practice's focus on a supportive team rather than just one clinician.
